‘It’s very French’ is an expression which is usually used to describe something particularly posh or stylish and just reading the words you can hear the ‘posh’ tone in which the phrase is often used.

This vintage poster is for the Automobile Club of France but from just one look you wouldn’t need to be told that anyway; the light and fresh pink and orange colours featured in the poster would look at home in a bohemian decorated home, or even a modern, sleek and minimalist decor.

Stylist’s Wall Art Start

I have just read a quote from interior stylist Megan Morton – when asked how he got her inspiration at the beginning of a design project, she said ‘I let the paintings define the vibrancy’ and she then works with the colours of her wall art choices to decorate the rest of the home or room she is working on!

For a stylish wall art start to your decorating project you have to check out these inspirations.

Bedroom Wall Art

We all know some of the best wall art can be that which you make yourself, and it doesn’t even have to be framed in the traditional way either – how about framing your personalised wall art as a bed head? Cut up old picture books for a children’s bed head, or collect patterned strips of paper or wallpaper and create a colourful and contrasting bedroom collage.

Stand Tall

Artist, Susanne René Leasure has hand painted a relaxing evening stroll on a placid beach of San Simeon, California. This beautiful strand of beach does not receive as many visitors as the nearby Hearst Castle. The history of the Hearst Castle includes many extravagant gatherings that included many of the rich and famous from world & national government, politics and show business. Enthralled with the richness of the Earth, however, Susanne focuses her attention (and ours) on the splendors of the sea, the beach and the setting sun. Many hues have influenced the oil painting’s composition and are throughout the scene. Splashes on the reef and small rolling waves of sea foam, remind us that the ocean is always brimming with energy. You always hear about the problems people have when they build their homes near the beach – the sand, the salt damage, the dampness, and so I am always surprised to see towering cliffs and mountains by the seaside.

These natural beauties don’t care what people say about salt damage and they will stand tall and enjoy their magnificent sea view, regardless of what anyone tells them they can or cannot do. So not only is ‘San Simeon Sunset’ a beautiful seascape painting with rich plum colours from the last of the sunset, it is also an inspiration.

A New Angle on These Boats

Posted in Uncategorized on May 6, 2008 by vanessawriter1

Race Day. People have been working on their boats for months, painting, repairing, rigging, and now the big day is finally here. Skies are clear and the wind is right, as excitement builds. Who will win? Afterwards, everyone will meet and discuss the race over some lively island music, with food and drinks on the house. This ‘Race Day’ seascape painting shows such brightly coloured boats on the shore that you would think they ere part of the Mardi Gras parade. However, these are racing boats which are resting before the big event and the angle which they are painted and the colours they are painted in both give a new angle to the scene don’t you think? That is, the angle of the boats with their masts pointing towards you and their sails folded out is not how you usually see a boat. Nor do you usually see such colourful boats so you are forced to see the whole scene in a new light.

Children’s Art

“Girl Dancing on Liquid Gold” is an acrylic painting that immediately arrests the eye with a dynamic interplay of light, movement, and color. Though the colors are bright and strong, their pastel hues create a soft and warm atmosphere to this original painting. Leasure’s studies of Californian sea, shore, and beaches emote the vibrancy and movement of the natural scenes depicted, and keep them alive in his wall art paintings. Though many of Leasure’s works are oil paintings, in “Girl Dancing on Liquid Gold”, he makes use of many delicate layers, thus producing the multi-colored, shimmering effect. In this piece, the movement of the girl seems to be at one with the dancing wave as it rolls towards her and she runs to greet it. The angles of her body in motion match the free-flowing, unfettered movement of the wave. The spectrum of colors seen in a summer sunset reflect in the water and the crashing wave. The girl dances upon the still, shallow water, which is smooth and golden. The shiney amber surface she glides upon to meet the wave, conveys the precious gift of nature as the basis of life. The innocence of youth has no conflict with nature and so it gives her a royal status – a golden road on which to tread. The delight of the spirited girl and the sheer beauty of the sunset colors reflected in the ever-moving sea, uplift the spirit to the untroubled state where it always longs to reside. Such fine art paintings give life to a room and the people who inhabit it.- Written by Rick Tunis This painting has been beautifully captured in archival quality limited edition giclee reproductions, each signed by the artist. Choose from the selections in Related Products below. All of our parents have stacks of photos of us growing up and we do the same thing, snapping photos of every moment to capture a memory. But how often are those moments worth framing? Not very, that is why they are piling up in photo albums.

But this artist has cpautured a moment in childhood in ‘Girl Dancing on Liquid Gold’ which should be framed and mounted for the beauty of the image and the special carefree moment of childhood which both parent and child will very soon wish they still had.

Mirrored Wall Art

‘Pelicans at the Seal Rookery’ is a dynamic painting, full of action. The dramatic motion of the ocean waves is punctuated by the flight of the graceful sea birds. Moody colors of gray, blue, green and tan contrast the white, frothy foam. Rough, churning swells crash against the rocks, causing the pair of pelicans to quickly take to the air. Leasure would spend hours at this vantage point high on the cliff above the seal rookery, watching the frolicking newborn seal pups with their mothers. Many types of seabirds would congregate on the rocks, dolphins would play offshore near the kelp beds and an occasional pod of whales would pass by. Hang this spectacular painting on your wall and get caught up in the mood of this coastal moment.Wouldn’t this seascape painting be perfect on the opposite wall to a mirror? It is painted in a landscape orientation making sure that it will dominate whichever wall it hangs on. However, the colours and the soft blues of the harsh waves makes sure it is not imposing. Instead you want to enjoy it from ever angle, the same way you do when you are standing on the cliffs at the beach and watching the world happen around you.

Wall Art Surrounds

Picture of a beautifly detailed fine art mural throught all the surfaces of a powder room.We think of murals as being primarily wall art for outside walls but Paul Leasure has dedicated a lot of his time as an artist to painting numerous murals to transport you from a bathroom to a countryside for example! On every wall of this power room the soft scene of a French countryside is painted and the greens in the scene not only contrast with the fixtures and fittings but also draw your attention away from the small size of the bathroom, a clever interior design trick – including a meadow in your house plans!

Lively Lily

This is a stunning close up photograph of a beautiful backlit calla lily. Waterdrops sparkle with pristine clarity and every detail glows in the sunlight. This dramatic photo will make an impressive statement when featured in your decor.

I always thought that lillies represented death, you always see them a funerals don’t you? But the photographer of this piece of wall art seems to think that her photo of this lily reaching for the sun after the rain shows cleansing new beginnings. Maybe she’s right, after all, maybe a funeral is a new beginning too, a way to move on, and having all of that said in an art print to hang on your wall is a great reminder.
